A feminist approach to the works of the past has become increasingly prominent in recent decades. Among the issues found in the works of the past are the absence of women's voices, men's silence about women, and their disrespect toward them. One of the feminist theories is feminine writing and discourse. According to Helene Cixous, if ecriture feminine is to have its own characteristics, masculine writing must be examined and, based on Jacques Derrida's theory of binary oppositions, attention should shift from men to women so that women can discover their own writing. This type of writing has existed in oral and local folktales of the past. The aim of this article is to demonstrate that folktales can be regarded as feminist texts, and one of the results is the marginalization of men in many of these stories, because these stories are narrated from the perspective of women and are shaped in their favor. Referring to several folktales, especially from Iran, this article examines feminist theories such as feminine language, writing and discourse
